Ready to get involved with ZSHA?

The Zero Suicide Hillsborough Alliance is a collaborative effort built on the idea that preventing suicide requires shared commitment, partnership, and ongoing community engagement. Our work is supported by volunteers and partners from healthcare, education, community organizations, and individuals with lived experience who are dedicated to strengthening suicide prevention efforts throughout Hillsborough County.

Joining a committee is one of the most meaningful ways to contribute. Committees help advance the Alliance’s work by supporting education and training, community outreach, communications, and strategic initiatives that promote comprehensive suicide prevention across our community. Anyone with an interest in supporting suicide prevention is welcome to participate and members may join more than one committee as their availability allows.

We encourage you to explore the committees below to find opportunities that match your interests and availability. Please reach out to us if you have any questions or would like to join a ZSHA committee!

Committees

Steering Committee

Their leadership, coordination, and strategic guidance keep our work aligned with Zero Suicide principles and moving forward with intention. From shaping the overall vision to strengthening collaboration and shared accountability across the alliance, the Steering Committee helps sustain momentum and advance meaningful, collective impact in suicide prevention.

Veterans Committee

Focuses on supporting veterans and their loved ones through connection, community, and access to suicide prevention resources. They coordinate our monthly Veteran Coffee Socials across Hillsborough County.

Providers Committee

Focuses on supporting behavioral health providers by strengthening suicide prevention and postvention efforts within provider organizations and the behavioral health workforce.

Communications

Maintains the Alliance’s website, creates event flyers, and develops LinkedIn posts. This committee also supports planning and promoting bi-monthly General Meetings and helps with notes, email updates, and member communications.

Strategic Planning

Leads the development and evaluation of ZSHA’s Strategic Plan (~2026–2028). Members analyze data, identify gaps and opportunities, integrate best practices, and make recommendations to the Steering Committee to guide the Alliance’s long-term efforts.

ZSHA Connect +

Plans and coordinates ZSHA Connect+ events, including identifying topics, speakers, and co-hosts. Members create materials, promote events, co-facilitate sessions, and take notes to ensure smooth and engaging programming.

Bay Area Gun Shop Project

Acts as the Alliance’s liaison to the project, connecting with local gun shops, ranges, and hobby groups to share suicide prevention information and advocate for safer firearms storage. Members also help identify stakeholders and champion policies that promote suicide prevention.
